I’m Gail, and I’ve been passionate about sewing and quilting since I was young. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about watching a project come to life with my own hands. In 1994, I dove deeper into my craft by exploring embroidery, which added a wonderful new dimension to my creations.

In 1997, I took a big step and opened a cozy shop in my charming hometown of Red Lake, Ontario. I named this shop “Gails Stitches” and it became a place where I could connect with fellow quilting enthusiasts and share my love for the craft. It was also a fantastic opportunity for me to grow and develop my skills while teaching others as a quilting instructor.

By 2017, I wanted to share my creations and products with an even wider audience, so I launched my Etsy shop. At this time, I wanted to separate services offered through “Gails Stitches” to products that can be shared with people around the world and so I decided to name the online shop something new. “Northern Lights Fabric” was born.

The name “Northern Lights Fabric” is inspired by the breathtaking Northern Lights that grace our skies here in Red Lake. If the weather is just right, you can witness this stunning natural light show—a magical reminder of the beauty and wonder that inspires my work.

In the shop, you’ll find everything from quilting kits and fabric to embellishments, embroidery patterns, and even complete quilts for sale. Each item is selected with care to help you bring your creative visions to life.
